Whether you are preparing your concert piano for performance, or simply looking after your upright piano for your child on their first set of scales – each piano tuned is treated with the same level of care, attention to detail and focus on optimal tone and responsiveness. High-quality piano tuning, regulation and voicing works with the instrument to bring it to concert hall standard, allows it to perform at its best and retain its sound for longer.

Piano Repair & Cleaning Services

From time to time your piano may develop a fault, this could be something very minor or a sign of your instrument needing major work. Either way we can visit your piano, assess the piano, fixing the offending part or giving you a full estimate of work that needs to be carried out in our workshop. Many minor repairs can be tackled during a regular piano tuning, for example: sticking keys, broken stings, broken shanks, loose keys, uneven tone or volume, broken springs, uneven key height, and noisy or squeaky pedals.

We offer full cleaning services, which include dusting the soundboard under the strings, dusting and cleaning the action and the interior. We have special tools to reach under the strings. We reccomend a professional cleaning once every one to two years. We can carry out all repairs and restoration using genuine parts or custom parts to suit the instrument.

Complete ACTION Regulation

Regulation is the skill of adjusting the piano action to ensure the piano plays correctly – and that all keys operate smoothly and with uniform touch. Pianos are made up of approximately 4500 moving parts. Parts wear and change due to climatic changes or movement.

Regulation sets hammers at the correct distance from the strings, sets keys to the correct depth and aligns the action to ensure the best performance from the piano. Pedals are also adjusted if needed. Correct regulation allows smooth technique, and also allows the musician to play at extreme softness yet retain maximum control.

complete piano rebuilding

With our piano restoration we constantly research traditional piano manufacturing methods and also work with modern piano manufacturers to keep ahead of the latest technological developments. In this way our piano restoration projects meet the increasing technical demands of the modern pianist, who requires an instrument which can deliver extremes of colour, texture and dynamic, as well as the particular and varied demands of a wide range of grand pianos.

Every Piano that we restore is restored by hand using time tested, old fashioned techniques and materials. Everything service we perform is in-house, and we are very proud of that difference for the ultimate quality control. We address every single component of the piano in our premium piano restorations; it is in the details and level of understanding that separates us from our competition.

Piano Voicing & Dynamics

A major portion of the tone, volume and overall sound balance is controlled by piano voicing, which is the art of adjusting the hardness and resilience of the piano hammer heads. Most voicing adjustments are made to even out the tone of the piano. Hardening the felt makes the tone brighter, and softening the hammers makes the tone softer. Changes can also be made to change the sound from robust to delicate, from bright to mellow.

Voicing also includes the proper alignment of the hammers to the strings, and the reshaping of the hammer to remover string cuts caused by wear. Correct reshaping of the hammers also ensures maximum lifespan for the hammers.

Piano Scratch, Ding, Chip, Spot Repair & TouchUp

What is the first thing people see when they look at your piano? It's the case, of course! Just like a brand new piece of furniture, you want to keep your piano looking as good as it sounds.

Normal wear and tear happens over time. Direct sunlight causes bleaching or cracking of the finish. Damage occurs during improper transport or having too much fun at social gatherings. Party glasses and flower vases can cause water stains on the case. Perhaps little Johnny drops his favorite metal toy from the upper staircase onto the lid of the family heirloom piano. Don't worry! TouchUp Masters will come to the rescue with skillful finish touch up! We have repaired many case finishes by touching up scratches, dings, or spots instead of doing an expensive refinishing of the entire piano.
